Get active this half term with free family fun, shows and exciting activities for all ages

Young children and their families can dive into a mix of free and budget-friendly fun across South Oxfordshire, with plenty of exciting activities and entertainment to enjoy together.

This May half term, South Oxfordshire District Council’s Active Communities team will host a variety of events aimed at children and families. These include a softball and cricket fun activity day at Didcot Cricket Club to Xplorer navigation challenges in Watlington.

The activities are expected to be very popular so people are encouraged to book early at southandvale.gov.uk/holidayactivities to avoid disappointment.

Over at Cornerstone Arts Centre in Didcot, families can dance into May half term at Dinky Disco, a fun-filled party for children aged 10 and under. With upbeat music and party games, it’s the perfect way for little ones and their families to enjoy some feel-good holiday fun. Keep an eye on Cornerstone’s website for even more activities coming soon.

Family Fun Swims will be running throughout the holidays at Better Leisure Centres. And preparations have started at Riverside Park and Pools in Wallingford ready for the pool and splash pad to open to visitors on Saturday 23 May, just in time for the half term break. More details can be found on the leisure centre’s Facebook pages, Better UK website and app.

Cllr Georgina Heritage, Cabinet Member for Communities at South Oxfordshire District Council, said: “We’re so pleased to be able to offer so many half term activities and shows! They are perfect for families, and there really is something for everyone to enjoy together. It’s also exciting to see Riverside gearing up for another summer of fun for families and outdoor swimmers. Make sure to book your place and get involved!”
